1. Successfully setting up my Saturday visit to DC so I'll get to see four old friends AND my cousins!
2. A productive day of Photoshopping my old 35mm blank sign pix in Dad's basement.
3. A brisk walk around Medfield to absorb a little vitamin D.
4. A brand new covered car sighting on my walk.
5. The kind postal employee who stopped when I flagged her down with my red Netflix envelope.
6. Leftover lasagna for dinner for me and Dad.
7. Meeting Conor and seeing Open Space on Sisson Avenue in Remington.
8. The Club Charles. Still there. Still cool. It's nice that some things never change.
9. Watching the truly terrifying "Jersey Shore" on Tivo at my sister's house.
10. Dad's neighbor's recently restored cherry red 70s GTO had a cover on it when I got home. Guess he heard the weather forecast (SNOW...oh no!).

12.29.09
1. Ten things I can consume that my sister can't due to migraines and Meniere's: the homemade lasagna I made last night.
2. Salt.
3. Cheese.
4. Bread.
5. Beer.
6. Red wine.
7. Chocolate.
8. Black beans.
9. Tomatoes.
10. Raspberries. I sincerely hope my dizziness never turns out to be Meniere's, since a lot of my favorite foods are on this list.

12.28.09
1. Sleeping till 10.
2. A lazy morning.
3. Lots of sunlight.
4. The helpful Earthlink CS rep who helped me get dialup going at Dad's house.
5. The dialup works great, except for videos.
6. Fresh Gulf of Mexico jumbo shrimp for only $8.99 a pound at the Giant. I think I'll order a pound steamed for dinner on Thursday. They do it for you right there at the seafood counter, Old Bay and all!
7. The delicious dinner I made for me and my dad: shrimp sauteed in garlic, porcini risotto and asparagus.
8. Bowling duckpins at Stoneleigh lanes with Skizz and Jen and their friends.
9. A late snack of Utz salt and vinegar chips at the pizza joint afterwards.
10. Reading till I fell asleep in bed.

12.27.09
1. Being organized and sensible enough, for a change, to get to the airport nearly two hours ahead of my flight.
2. Somehow getting one extra carry-on past all the Delta employees and onto the plane.
3. A smooth, cloudless flight, the opposite of my two-hour roller coaster ride to New Orleans in October.
4. A window seat to see all the gorgeous scenery below me, the prettiest of which was the snow on top of hills in what I think must have been Wisconsin (click on the date above to see a pic!).
5. The stark, flat, snow-dusted grids of Midwest cities and fields.
6. The rolling hills of Pennsylvania and Maryland. The way roads and clusters of houses and even farms hug their curves. They sort of nestle into them the way Max finds a sweet spot in the fold of my knees at night.
7. Baltimore's port with its cranes that look like church steeples from the distance, and one of those bridges that rotates on its axis to let the ships pass through.
8. A red and white checkered tablecloth-patterned water tower near the airport.
9. Dinner at Cafe Hon with my dad. Crabcakes and fries!
10. Watching the Coen Brothers' "The Ladykillers" with Dad--rented from the wonderful Video American.

1. Seeing my lovely little "Ten Good Things" book on my bedside table.
2. Scrambled eggs and grapefruit.
2. Scrambled eggs and grapefruit.
3. A pleasant chat with my new neighbor's sister while shoveling.
4. My new used Powerbook has a bigger hard drive than the First Tech salesman told me.
5. Lots of new MP3s to listen to on it.
6. A quiet unbusy hour at the Y.
7. The motorcycle article in Harpers.
8. A soak in the hot tub.
9. A long hot shower.
10. Cuddling up with Max.

1. Sleeping late.
2. Not getting on a plane.
3. Not having to shovel.
4. Yorkshire Gold tea.
5. Watching two hours of "Curb Your Enthusiam" with Alex in the middle of the day.
6. Seeing his Facebook post saying that doing so had been "absolutely awesome."
7. The super kind and efficient CS guy at GoDaddy who helped me figure out my domain name mess.
8. Being almost caught up on paperwork.
9. Getting back to reading The Moviegoer before bed.
10. Not being too upset about "missing Christmas."

12.24.09
1. Deciding to ask my neighbor's teenager to shovel. Only $10 for an hour.
2. My new clients gave me a $40 bonus (as well they should have! Last minute job on Xmas Eve!).
3. Jessica was really happy when I stopped by the acupuncture clinic by with her gift of pink raspberry jam. I helped her hang a bird feeder to look at through the front window.
4. Need I say it again? All wheel drive!
5. Amusing mail-order hors d'oeuvres that Morgan brought over--a gift from his parents.
6. Nice conversation and an impromptu dinner with him, Stewart , Joann and Alex. A lovely Christmas Eve.
7. This was only possible because I was wise enough to see that I couldn't handle flying to DC before dawn in a blizzard with a non-working laptop.
8. The kind Delta employee who helped me change my flight at no charge. I think it was the perfect moment because no one knew what was going to happen with the storm.
9. Gabbing with Alex before bed about people with, as he put it, "rich emotional tapestries."
10. Sleeping a good long time, even though I needed medicine to do it.
