1. Being organized and sensible enough, for a change, to get to the airport nearly two hours ahead of my flight.
2. Somehow getting one extra carry-on past all the Delta employees and onto the plane.
3. A smooth, cloudless flight, the opposite of my two-hour roller coaster ride to New Orleans in October.
4. A window seat to see all the gorgeous scenery below me, the prettiest of which was the snow on top of hills in what I think must have been Wisconsin (click on the date above to see a pic!).
5. The stark, flat, snow-dusted grids of Midwest cities and fields.
6. The rolling hills of Pennsylvania and Maryland. The way roads and clusters of houses and even farms hug their curves. They sort of nestle into them the way Max finds a sweet spot in the fold of my knees at night.
7. Baltimore's port with its cranes that look like church steeples from the distance, and one of those bridges that rotates on its axis to let the ships pass through.
8. A red and white checkered tablecloth-patterned water tower near the airport.
9. Dinner at Cafe Hon with my dad. Crabcakes and fries!
10. Watching the Coen Brothers' "The Ladykillers" with Dad--rented from the wonderful Video American.
